The Shoalhaven Arts Board, Bundanon Trust and the Fellowship of Australian Writers – Shoalhaven announced the competition for 2011 has been launched and this year will be for short stories.
This year’s judge is Chris Mansell, who has written many books of poetry, a book of short fiction, and a number of other smaller collections. She has published non-fiction books and had a number of plays performed. Her children’s book, Little Wombat, was a favourite of many children. She has worked as a writer and editor for all of her professional life and is skilled at working with new writers. She has been writer in residence at universities, and lectured in writing at others, and editor in residence with the Royal Australian Historical Society.
Her latest books are a new and selected poems, Spine Lingo (Kardoorair Press, Armidale, 2011) and a collection of short fiction, Schadenvale Road (Interactive Press, Brisbane, 2011). Other recent collections include Letters (Kardoorair, 2009), Love Poems (Kardoorair, 2006), The Fickle Brat (text + audio CD) (Interactive Digital), Day Easy Sunlight Fine (Penguin) and Mortifications & Lies (Kardoorair, 2005).
The prizes will be:
1st: $1000 together with a two-week artist residential at the Arthur Boyd Bundanon Centre at Bundanon on the Shoalhaven River
2nd: $300
3rd: $100
Plus $200 Encouragement Award for winning entry from a Shoalhaven resident.
