Instinct by Elaine Chin
in the depth of the forest
we discover instincts swallowed by civilisation
urges refined by urban living
taboos of primitive tribes
the jungle reveals forgotten heritage
links to the central stem
of our existence
an insect crawls to its destination
our shell so thickened
we do not see the links
that bind us to one another
the butterfly meets the flower in perfect union
break them and we drift into space
further from our roots
into nothingness
