Open-air concert, 19 February, 6.30PM – 9PM
Enjoy a summer evening under the stars at historic Meroogal house in Nowra when the Historic Houses Trust hosts an intimate acoustic concert with Sydney-based singer Melanie Horsnell on Saturday 19 February.
The folk-pop singer shot to fame internationally in 2008 before releasing her debut album in Australia, performing in festivals across Europe and the USA, and was personally picked by chart-topping artist Jason Mraz to support him on his successful Australian tour that year.
Locally, Horsnell became an online sensation thanks to a song she wrote and sang for a Mazda commercial, the tune becoming so popular it was offered as a free download on their Australian site.
Meroogal manager Sandra Lee says, ““It’s always a pleasure to sit in the garden at Meroogal under the 100 year old jacarandas, in the shadow of this lovely old home creating a very special ambiance”
“This is a great opportunity to relax in the garden of the 1885 house, once home to four generations of women from the Thorburn family.
“Both Tot and Kate Thorburn sang and played the piano in local concerts and I’m sure they’d be thrilled to have a music concert held in their much loved garden,” she said.
Pack a picnic rug and find a comfy spot on the lovely lawn and enjoy a performance of folk music influenced by pop, soft rock, country and jazz, accompanied by the ukulele and double bass.
BYO picnic food and drinks, tea and coffee will be available on the night.
