Opening on Saturday, 7 February is the latest exhibition from South Coast artist Donna Huntriss, featuring prints and original acetate paintings. The works follow the theme of a formal garden that hides Oscar, the mythical dragon, exotic fruits and magical birds.
Wander through the ‘Hedge Maze at Night’ and discover a strange tree bearing fruit. And you may just see Oscar hatching from his shell and catch him among the forbidden roses. And if you get lost, you can always follow the compass of a hand embroidered quilt – ‘As the Crow Flies’.
Born and raised in Nowra on the South Coast of New South Wales, Donna studied art at Nowra High School and was selected for Art Express in 1986. She has been featured in several exhibitions at the Shoalhaven Arts Centre and has created commissioned artworks and murals for various community organisations. She has also had poetry published in a number of anthologies.
Donna specialises in coloured and lead pencil drawings as well as painted acetate film illustrations, canvas acrylic paintings, and recently textiles (art quilts).
In The Night Garden. Shoalhaven City Arts Centre, 6 February to 4 March.
