“There are significant moments in everyone’s life that deserve to be captured, and I am passionate about capturing those moments through the ancient art form of hot glass. I create with passion, influenced by the love of my surroundings and connection to the environment through the mountains and oceans.”

Mark Galton of Mark Galton Hot Glass Studio near Burrill Lake on the NSW south coast has had a passion for fire and glass for over 30 years. After graduating from Sydney College of the Arts, he embarked on a journey of discovery to see where his new-found medium would take him. First was the Queensland Sunshine Coast hinterland, then to an equally inspiring environment to get the creative juices going – the place he now calls home – Burrill Lake.
“The mountains, the clean air, cool streams, mist, vibrant growth, the oceans, every changing mood, colours, light play, nature, reflections – these are only a glimpse into what transpires through my art creations. I love the spontaneous nature of hot glass, the excitwment of the roar of the firey furnace and the beauty that is exposed as the art is cools and the light and colours are revealed.”
Starting out in the 1980s, Mark worked in various hot glass workshops in Australia, London, and New Zealand. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions over more than 20 years and are featured in public and private collections in UK, USA, Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, Germany and New Zealand.
When he’s not working at the furnace, he likes to chill out surfing favourite break and has been president of the Ulladulla Boardriders’ Club for three years.
