Shoalhaven City Arts Centre will host the Archibald Prize 2013 Regional Touring Exhibition from Tuesday 13 May until Saturday 28 June. The exhibition’s launch event will be Saturday, 10 May, 12–2pm.
The Archibald Prize is Australia’s most prestigious and renowned exhibition having celebrated the country’s leading portrait artists since the awards inception in 1921.
Among the prominent pieces to be featured at the upcoming exhibition include Kathryn Del Barton’s winning entry, Hugo, a portrait of Hugo Weaving, as well as Vincent Fantauzzo’s People Choice Award, Love Face featuring actress Asher Keddie.
Without doubt the Archibald Prize is Australia’s most prestigious and recognisable portrait prize and visitors to the Arts Centre will have the opportunity to see all 39 finalists from 2013.
The Archibald Prize is a who’s who of Australian culture – from politicians to celebrities and sporting heroes to artists, the entries feature prominent Australians from all walks of life.
The Shoalhaven City Arts Centre will run a People’s Choice Award as part of the exhibition with local residents encouraged to vote for their favorite painting to go into the draw to win a $500 ANZ Visa Debit Card.
The People’s Choice Winner will be announced and notified at the conclusion of the exhibition.
