‘Out There’ - latest show for Painting Group

The latest exhibition from Shoalhaven artists known as ‘The Painting Group’, will open at Café Bella in Kangaroo Valley at 5.30pm on 23 January.

The Painting Group has been painting en plein air weekly since 2006, all over the Shoalhaven area as well as Kiama in all weathers. The group consists of seven members: Kaye Johnston, Andrea Lofthouse and Sue Prescott from Kangaroo Valley. Sue Irvin from Gerringong and Reiko Hashimoto, Julie Phelps and Anne Christoffersen from Nowra.

This exhibition is a sample of their work and includes landscape, figurative and abstract. The artists have individual reponses to the landscape producing works that are definitely not traditional lanscapes. The group functions to encourage, support, and motivate each member. They value each other’s comments, criticism and assistance with work. Although painting is hard and challenging they always enjoy themselves with painting days also being picnic days. They can be observed at picnic areas, beaches, boat ramps and showgrounds.
